Another Year Bites The Dust
Eyeful has put another fantastic financial year to bed. As we continue to grow and spread our expertise around the globe, we’d like to say a huge Thank-You to everyone that we’ve worked with over the last 12 months. It's been a real privilege to welcome you into the Eyeful Presentations fold - we're already looking forward to working with you again!.
As our financial year thundered to a close there is only one way to sum it all up…..WOW.
2010/2011 has been our best year yet and we think we know why… Eyeful Presentations has worked hard to make sure that we have the very best people: presentation experts of every ilk and speciality; each one an enthusiastic ambassador for our Presentation Optimisation process.
Having brilliant people is only part of the story, every genius needs nurturing and we believe that we’ve cracked that too – keeping creative types happy is a tricky thing to do but we’ve risen to the challenge!
So Eyeful Presentations is proud to be ‘home’ to an excellent, happy and expert team ready to change the world one presentation at a time. But we know that without our customers we'd be nothing and our mission to rid the world of “Death by PowerPoint” would be just a good intention…so have an extra “Thank-You” from all of us |

PowerPoint and Presentation Training Prove A Massive Hit
As the celebrations of another record quarter of growth slowly die down, we’re excited to see that we’ve delivered more technical PowerPoint and sales presentation training than ever before. But why?
Yep – this last quarter has seen a sharp rise in the amount of technical PowerPoint and presentation training for sales and marketing teams. We think this is down to our bespoke approach to the training (we don’t do “chalk and talk”!) and the fact that it’s delivered by presentation experts who are full of enthusiasm and excitement for PowerPoint, Keynote and the many other presentation technologies out there.
Exciting times! |

State National has an enviable reputation in the insurance and credit market in the US…and now, due to the combined expertise of Eyeful and its partners 2Win! Global, has the presentation collateral and delivery skills to tell the World about it!
The unique combination of Eyeful’s presentation consultancy and design skills with 2Win! Global’s peerless training pedigree was a surefire hit with State National. The process, jointly managed by teams from Eyeful US and 2Win!, delivered State National a completely overhauled presentation with new messaging, structure and design and then combined it with a soft skills training for their sales team.
The project was a huge success with a series of new high profile deals being attributed in part to the clarity and delivery of their new presentation. |

Dear Steve(s)…
As arbiters of some of the best presentations across the globe, we thought it high time that we addressed two of the biggest obstacles faced by presenters every day – PowerPoint and Keynote. So what better way than dropping Messrs Jobs and Ballmer a quick letter highlighting a few issues.
For some time, we’ve stood up for presentation software like PowerPoint and Keynote. We think it’s just a little too easy to blame poor presentations on the inflexibility and ubiquity of presentation software when the blame should be laid clearly at the door of the presenter.
HOWEVER…we’ll happily highlight some of the gaping flaws in PowerPoint and Keynote when appropriate. And that time is now…
First up was our very polite letter to Apple’s Steve Jobs. Steve is seen by many as a software messiah, bringing innovation into the home and office at a remarkable pace and with the utmost quality in mind. So we thought he’d welcome our constructive feedback on Keynote and the difficulties of presenting on the iPad… Read on!
Next up was Steve Ballmer. Steve now heads up Microsoft and, as such, is ultimately responsible for PowerPoint. Love it or hate it, it’s the market leader in presentation software so they must be doing something right…but we had some additional ideas that we thought Steve might want to consider… |

Microsoft PowerPoint 2003 File Corruption Problem
If you have noticed PowerPoint behaving a little oddly over the past few days this is down to recent Microsoft update.
The problems encountered are mainly to PowerPoint 2003 users where an error message is received when opening the file.

Then some elements of the template are no longer displayed in the presentation and also some text boxes on slides will have unwanted lines around them.
The way to fix this is to remove the offending update. To do this:-
- Go to your start menu and type in the search bar ‘add or remove programmes’ (or find through control panel) and open this tool.
- Select the “View installed updates” option
- Then in the search bar type “KB2464588” you should then be able to uninstall the offending update.
We will publish news on a permanent fix once this is available from Microsoft.
For PowerPoint users in a more urgent position who are about to present but cannot remove the offending update due to IT Department restrictions a temporary solution would be to:-
A – Find a PC that has not been updated and use this to SAVE AS – Jpeg, then use these flat (un-animated) slides to present.
OR
B – If you do not have a non-updated PC, then please contact us and we would be happy to do this for you free of charge.
May 2011 – Microsoft PowerPoint 2003 File Corruption Problem - UPDATE
Microsoft have now released a ‘hotfix’ to relieve the symptoms caused by the recent PowerPoint 2003 security update “KB2464588”. Microsoft however state that “This hotfix has not undergone full testing… we encourage you to wait for the next service pack release” Which is due out June 14th.
Eyeful would recommend waiting for the fully tested update in mid June, however if the rogue KB2464588 is causing you considerable problems and you are happy to use the untested hotfix this can be downloaded directly from Microsoft here:- http://support.microsoft.com/hotfix/KBHotfix.aspx?kbnum=2543241&kbln=en-us

Blended Presenting – It's Coming…
We’ve made quite a splash over the years by turning bullet point strewn PowerPoint decks into a powerful presentation tools for the finest companies in the World. Despite this, the gang here at Eyeful refuse to rest on our laurels - we’ve been beavering away at developing a brand new approach. Welcome to “Blended Presenting”.
Here at Eyeful, we like to keep things simple and tell it like it is - Blended Presenting is common sense. It’s about ensuring the presenter is equipped with the right tools at the right time – it’s that simple.
If you’ve been one of the unlucky millions who have tried to deliver a highly technical presentation using PowerPoint or Keynote, you’ll know using the wrong tool simply makes the job tougher (we estimate “millions” as we’re sent lots of these horribly complex and confusing slides everyday!). Blended Presenting takes a step back, reviews your message and presentation objectives links it in with the needs of your audience and then provides you with the right presentation tool for the job.
Simple but elegant.

After Presentation Salvation? There’s now more room at the inn!
We only moved into our fancy new (and much larger) offices in Desford a few months ago but we’re already starting to run out of room. The reason? Customer demand for use of our presentation and PowerPoint workshop areas is at an all-time high and thankfully shows no sign of abating.
So we’ve bitten the bullet and had the builders in at Eyeful Towers.
The end result is a fancy new workshop area (complete with interactive whiteboard and rather fine audio studio for presentation voiceovers courtesy of our little sister company, Earful Productions.
Pop in and have a look around. Who knows, there may even be some biscuits around if the builders haven’t eaten them all…

Kicking off the year in proper style!
Here at Eyeful, we wanted to kick off 2011 with energy, pizazz and plain old excitement. So who better to ask than our wonderful PowerPoint design and development customers.
We got them to speak up about the impact our approach has had on their presentation projects...and by jingo, did they tell us…
So we call in our chums at sister company Earful Productions who took a selection of our customer testimonial audio clips and mixed them all up to create a really nice summary of what it’s really like having Eyeful work on your presentation project.
Eyeful Testimonial Montage
Part review of 2010, part explanation of quite what we do here at Eyeful, we think it’s well worth a listen. But we’ll let you decide.
